A Conspiracy of Beards

When you discover that your harbormaster, a former opera singer, has for 20 years been conducting a men's chorus called the Conspiracy of Beards that performs exclusively the work of Leonard Cohen, and they are leading a Cohen-themed healing service at a Unitarian church in Alameda on St. Patrick's Day... well then, you have yourself a perfect afternoon.

We often describe our choir as bringing choral music out of the churches and tabernacles and into the dive bars and music venues, but honestly, it was a huge pleasure to sing the songs of Leonard Cohen in that sacred space today. The resonance of the building and the warm reception of the Live Oak UU Fellowship community took it to a place that really filled us with joy. We are reminded that the purpose of Conspiracy of Beards is to reach gently into folks' emotional centers and touch the places that need a little embrace. Thank you for that reminder.
