Yard sale bounty!
Mike and his son Nat (visiting from Alaska) unload the kayak and SUP board we scored at a neighborhood-wide garage sale in Bel Marin Keys for the princely sum of $50. Huge thanks to Dave and Nat for getting up early and scouting the neighborhood on bikes.
Even better, as I headed down the dock, our neighbor Gary asked how life was treating us and I told him the news. "And the only thing we need to buy now is a kayak paddle," I added. "Well, I have two taking up space, and no kayak," he said, "Please take them!"
Mike has been climbing out of his skin these past nine months, being so close to the water but unable to get out and enjoy it. Back in Maine, he's on the river about four times a week from March through October. Now, he can paddle whenever tides & wind & work conspire in his favor, and I can follow along in a kayak to keep him from heading out, say, across the Bay to Sausalito.
We've still got four weeks left here and a lot of beautiful weather, so we plan to make the most of them. Though Maine is starting to call, and we're looking forward to some time back home.
