We have a place to stay, thanks to persistent work by Mike, some lucky coincidences, and incredible on-site help from Mike's son Dave (thank you, Dave!). She's a 37 foot Tollycraft named The Office, nearly 50 years old, beautifully maintained and only two owners over all that time. We have not yet seen this boat! Quite the leap of faith.

Mike is heading out mid-June to get started sorting things out, and I will join him June 22 for a 10-day visit. We've applied for a slip at Point San Pablo Harbor, just around the corner from the Richmond San Rafael bridge. We haven't seen the marina, either. But judging from the somewhat funky descriptions on their website and the fact that the owners are friends of friends and come with high recommendations, and the live music, art, and food scene, we think it's RIGHT up our alley and we seriously hope we get in.

The plan is to drive out mid-August with dog and gear and stay till Thanksgiving, then head home for a spell, then back in January. All subject to change. And we have a possible renter here in Maine.

In other news, I've started work on our first podcast, which will be the story of Mike launching Baykeeper. The shape of the story is set. The problem is getting my undiagnosed ADHD husband (he has it so bad) to sit still, focus, and talk into the microphone. I've done five sessions in one week and have at most two minutes of usable copy. To get what we need, I'll  probably have to sneak in 100 five-minute sessions spaced out over two months, usually over drinks when he's relaxed, and after he's finished his Fritos.

They didn't teach any of this in podcasting school.
