Marina ahoy!

Mike has managed to secure us a live-aboard slip at Point San Pablo Harbor. This is a huge accomplishment because (a) live-aboard slips are hard to come by and (b) this particular marina is exactly what we've been dreaming of. It's small and off the beaten path. It feels rural. It looks north to the gorgeous, peaceful San Pablo Bay. It's run by two lovely people - Rob Fyfe and Yaella Frankel - who are friends of friends. It's ideally situated for connecting with people in the East Bay & Marin where a lot of our contacts live. In fact, some of our key partners already hang out here at the end of the work week, because it's such a cool destination.

The marina has live music and Big Art. It has a coffee truck! It has an outdoor restaurant, open three nights a week, called the Sailing Goat, with an excellent chef and food sourced from the Bay. Mike has already been there twice in the past 10 days. (We're told that its predecessor, a hugely popular hangout called the Black Star Pirate BBQ - said to be one part New Orleans and one part old school Haight-Ashbury - was on the rowdy side.) It has a beach, a meadow, a small farm with goats and chickens, and a clubhouse. There's an outdoor bar fashioned from a steel box truss taken off the old Bay Bridge.
Mike says the whole enterprise has the spirit of the San Francisco he remembers. We could not be happier. Thanks to Rob & Yaella for making a place for us.
